People tend to believe that beauty is procurable by just buying some cosmetics, far from it; it radiates from within. Everyone has a unique innate beauty which you can enhance with natural regimens like ayurvedic skin care.
Ayurveda is the foundation for wellness internally that helps you look better externally by balancing your whole body Ayurveda is the foundation for wellness internally that helps you look better externally by balancing your whole body and optimizing energy according to your own “dosha” (constitution).
Ayurveda skincare practices are a mind-body approach to better skin. Ayurveda outlines three steps to a beautiful skin which are cleanse, nourish and moisturize. Ayurveda is a practice that nourishes your mind, body and skin.
Ayurvedic skin formulations are often combinations of different types of herbs that offer the benefits of both synergy and balance, so that the final product is potent and highly effective without damaging side effects.
Using traditional soaps to cleanse the skin can be drying and altering the natural pH balance and causing it to become more alkaline. When this happens, we often look to synthetic moisturizing creams which can be too dense to permeate the tissue adequately.
On the other hand, the goal of Ayurveda is using plant extracts such as herbs, flowers, essential oils, and minerals to cleanse, nourish, moisturize and exfoliate the skin, bringing it back into balance and harmony with nature.
Doshas
Ayurveda is rooted in the idea that each of us is born with a complex personal blueprint for optimum health. That blueprint is comprised of three “doshas” or body constitution: Vatta, pitta and kapha. Your dosha determines your skin type.
Knowing your dosha can give you valuable clues into how to manage your diet and lifestyle to thrive, as well as what to steer clear of to avoid imbalances that can lead to discomfort or diseases. This can also help customize your skin routine especially when it comes to the use of skin care ingredients. Each dosha has its own characteristics:
Vata – skin type is cool to touch, often thin, dry, fine-pored, delicate and wrinkle-prone. This type of skin is likely to be aggravated by exposure to stress, harsh elements, incompatible food (cold, rough, dry, etc.), lack of water and oil, excessive mental and physical activities and insufficient rest. Its thin outer layer can contribute to premature wrinkles or aging. Given its delicate nature, for Vata skin to stay youthful, it must stay hydrated, nurtured and protected. Ayurvedic treatments and skin care products helps nourish Vata skin from the inside out creating a healthy glow.
Pitta – skin type is the most sensitive and its prone to redness, acne and inflammation. It burns easily as it can be affected by heat and sun. This skin type can be agitated by stress, chemicals and incompatible foods (oily, sour, acidic, spicy etc.). Toxins can manifest on the skin as inflammation, blemishes and acne. Ayurvedic skin care products and treatments can eliminate these problems by detoxifying and cleansing from the inside out, restoring a clear and beautiful complexion.
Kapha – skin is smooth, thick, oily, pale, prone to enlarged pores, black heads, pimples, eczema and water retention in terms of imbalance. Excessive oil excretion combined with dirt results in the clogging of the skin pores. This skin type can be agitated by sedentary lifestyle and incompatible food (sweet, salty, oily, dairy products, etc.). For this skin type, gentle cleansing and exfoliation is the key to maintaining skin health. Ayurvedic skin care and treatment have products tailored to increase circulation, detoxify the skin and restore balance.
Over all, to enhance your beauty, live a balanced life. Imbalance occurs from poor eating habits, insufficient sleep, mental and emotional stress, and a daily routine that is not in accordance with the natural biological rhythms of our bodies.
Finally, with all the toxic chemicals and contaminants in our cleansers today, it is great to have a simple, clean and healthy alternative.
